<td>Trista spent last year on sabbatical, reading about food, writing about it, growing it, and eating it.  From the torment of quitting caffeine to the thrill of cracking open coconuts, Trista believes great adventure can be had through food.  While not eating, she took a few classes and remembered what it’s like to be a student—definitely not as easy as pie!</td>

<p>Briggs is the author of  four collections of short stories, <em>The Remains of River Names</em>, <em>Misplaced Alice</em>, <em>The Moss Gatherers</em> and <em>The End is the Beginning</em>. His first novel, <em>Shoot the Buffalo</em>, won the American Book Award in 2006.  He lives in Seattle with his wife and daughter.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>Poets Paulann Petersen and Willa Schneberg will read at noon on Friday, May 15 in Rook 220. The event is free and open to the public.</p>
<p>Petersen&#8217;s books of poetry are The Wild Awake (Confluence Press), Blood-Silk (Quiet Lion Press), and A Bride of Narrow Escape (Cloudbank Books), which was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. A fourth collection, Kindle, came out in 2008 from Mountains and Rivers Press.</p>
<p>Schneberg received the Oregon Book Award in Poetry for her second collection, In the Margins of the World. Her most recent volume of poetry is Storytelling in Cambodia (Calyx Books). </p>

<p>Submit all entries on a CD or floppy disk, along with a hard copy, to the Writers Club, Teacher: Tobias Peterson, RR 228. (Contact info. ext 2113, tobiasp@clackamas.edu)</p>
<p>The CD or floppy must have the student ID number written on it, as well as the title(s) and category of the entry.</p>
<p>Participants should identify their hard copy by placing their student ID number on each page.  Please one-and-a-half space all fiction and nonfiction (12 pages maximum; 3000 word limit). Include a cover page listing of the entrant’s name, student ID number, phone number, and address, category of entry (poetry, fiction, screenplay or creative non-fiction) and title of the submitted piece.</p>
<p>Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category as well as publication in the Writers Club book.</p>
